Visitors and Guests

Visitors are always welcome to attend our competitions. If you are new to the sport of shooting, please see our “Beginners” information section for all the relevant information. If you have further questions after reading the “Beginners” information, please send us an email and we will respond as soon as possible.

Would you like to shoot Handguns?

If you hold a current category “H” firearms licence, all you will need to do is bring along your firearms licence. If you have your own firearms and ammunition we are happy for you to bring these along. We are unable to use jacketed ammunition on the metal targets so lead projectiles are best. If you would prefer to use club guns you can hire them for the night along with the appropriate ammunition. Please note, we do not allow reloaded ammunition to be used in the club’s firearms.

If you do not have a current “H” category Firearms Licence but have a category “A B” firearms licence you will need to complete a Form 33 and we will give you a firearms handling and safety brief.

It is a requirement that all participants wear eye and ear protection during the competition. PRSC policy requires that ear muffs, as opposed to ear plugs be worn. If you do not have ear and/or eye protection, PRSC can assist. Don’t forget to bring along you participation card for us to sign.

Prefer to shoot long arms (rifle/shotgun)?

PRSC holds regular field shoot competitions that you can attend. If you have a category “A B” firearms licence then you will be able to bring along your long arms. Due to noise restrictions, we are only able to shoot rimfire rifles (i.e. .22LR) and shotguns at night, so please do not bring centrefire/large bore rifles, as you will not be able to use them.

If you have a category “H” firearms licence only, then we will ask you to fill in a Form 33 and we’ll give you a firearms handling and safety brief. Please let us know in advance if you would like to shoot long arms and we will have the appropriate firearms & ammunition available for you. It is a requirement that all participants wear eye and ear protection during the competition.
